Portland Town B 1 - 2 Okeford United

Okeford United came away from a very windy Portland with victory in their Division Five game on 14th November 15.

Playing against the wind in the first half, Portland Town B took an early lead, converting a one on one with the Okeford keeper in the fifth minute.  Okeford began to take more control as the half wore on, with Portland unable to clear their lines against the strong wind.  Okeford’s persistence was rewarded with an equaliser in the 30m minute, with Jamie Bugler setting up Tom Waters on the right hand side of the penalty area who placed a perfect shot into the top corner, giving the home sides keeper no chance.  It was only a few minutes later that Okeford then took the lead with Ashley Rowland’s close range header nudging the visitors ahead.  Despite several other good chances, the first half ended 2-1.

In the second half Okeford, now facing into the strong wind, found it more difficult to keep hold of the ball, with Portland coming back into the game, without creating many chances.  The Butterboys still looked dangerous coming forward on the break, and were resolute in defence.  The home side created a couple of chances late on from a free kick and corner, but were unable to convert either.  Their cause was not helped in the 85th minute when they were reduced to 10 men, with a straight red card being shown for violent conduct.

Okeford closed out the game, and took the points in a hard fought victory in tricky conditions, and extended their lead at the top of the division.
