Okeford United progressed into the semi final of the Senior Trophy with a narrow 3-2 victory over Portland United Reserves, setting up a semi final against rivals Sturminster Newton United.

It was the visitors who took the lead 20 minutes in.  Okeford lost possession as they attempted to clear an attack, and the ball broke down the left.  The whipped in cross was diverted home from the striker, with Richie Young getting a hand to it, but unable to keep it out.

This match was as close as the first encounter when the sides met in November and the Butterboys won 3-2.  The only goal came in the first thirty seconds, the home side kicked off playing the ball out to the right.  The ball was pushed forward to the touch line and crossed in, and was met at the far post by the home striker who had the simple task of tapping the ball in to the net.

Weymouth Sports Hit For Six

Jan

Okeford kicked off 2012 in style with a thumping 6-0 home victory over Weymouth Sports.

Following the winter break, and with heavy pitch conditions, it was a scrappy opening to the game.  It was Okeford who found their feet first, with Daniel Jordan and Olly Chaffey commanding the midfield, and it wasn’t long before the Butterboys secured the first goal.  A through ball found Olly Chaffey down the right flank, and his cross was met with a powerful header from Luke Turk, beating the keeper from 8 yards on 15 minutes.

Bishops Caundle 1 - 3 Okeford United

Dec

Okeford United rounded off 2011 with victory away at Bishops Caundle.  It was the hosts who had taken the lead, however, on a cold and blustery day in North Dorset.  They were awarded a penalty just two minutes into the game by referee David Mountain much to the bemusement of the Okeford players, and the majority of the home side.  The referee indicated he had spotted an infringement in the area as a cross came in that sailed well over the heads of everyone in the box.  After some protests, Shane Pulling coolly converted the penalty.

This match was much closer than the final score reads, the Reserves put in a very good performance against one of the contenders for the league title.

Okeford moved Tony Wooldridge from right back to centre of defence; this proved a success with the player putting in his best display of the season alongside captain Martin Webber.

Okeford United 5 - 1 Blandford United Reserves

Nov

Okeford United continued their move up the Dorset Senior League with a fine 5-1 victory against neighbours Blandford United Reserves.  Following a quick double in the first 10 minutes, it was a result that rarely looked in doubt, with the final score line reflecting the home sides dominance.

The first goal came on 4 minutes.  Marc Doble broke down the left and pulled the ball back across the edge of the area, finding Doug Nelson.  His perfectly weighted touch found Olly Chaffey advancing from midfield in stride to put the ball past Dan Brockway in the visitors goal.
