Reserves draw last league game

The reserves had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their final league match of the season at the Rec, but should have secured a victory with the chances that were missed.

The game started with the visitors nearly scoring in the first twenty seconds, luckily for Okeford the attacker miskicked his shot in front of goal.  The home side settled down after that early scare and looked bright and up for the match.  They took the lead after 25 minutes when Martin Webber met a cross at the far post to head home.

Bere Regis equalised within ten minutes to make the half time score 1-1.

Chaffey Double Sinks Witchampton

Okeford got off to a fast start in the Senior League game against Witchampton United.  The visitors, who were trying to avenge a two nil defeat from the first time the sides met, found themselves a goal down after just 15 seconds.  Witchampton kicked off, with the ball going back to the centre midfielder.  Olly Chaffey nicked the ball and stormed straight through the middle of the defence, before slotting the ball past the keeper.

Score draw in first league cup match

The Reserves gave a good workmanlike performance for the full 90 minutes of this group match of the league cup.

Okeford fielded the same back four as in the previous weeks victory and all four were solid.  Lee Gray was in goal and was outstanding, being voted man off the match for his string of superb saves.

Reserves do double over Stickland

The Reserves completed the double over local rivals Stickland at the Rec with this victory and also kept alive the chance of two teams finishing below them and avoiding relegation.

Things started very badly for the home team, kicking off it was the visitors who took the lead after 15 seconds of the match, the fastest goal seen at the Rec for many years, a miss placed back pass to the keeper went astray which saw the opponents striker run on to fire the ball passed the home keeper.

Okeford held by Portland

Portland United Reserves fought back from two goals down to hold Okeford at New Grove Corner.  Okeford had much more possession than the home side in the first half, but could not find the breakthrough.  Doble went close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions, twice bursting through the defence to get one on one with the goalkeeper, but both efforts were just the wrong side of the post.

The Recreation Ground to stage Dorset Sunday Minor Cup Final

Okeford Fitzpaine Recreation Ground has been chosen to host the Dorset Sunday Minor Cup Final on Sunday 15th April.  The match sees the Bakers Arms take on The Railway Hotel FC, with both sides containing several current and former Okeford United players.  Further details can be found by following the link below.

Okeford and Galaxy share the points

The Reserves showed a lot of fight in the second half of this game to earn a point against the team from Portland.

The first half saw both defences make mistakes which the other team profited from.  The first goal went to the visitors after six minutes, a back pass to Lee Gray saw the home keeper make a rare mistake, side footing the ball the wrong way and the attacker having to simply slot the ball in to the net.

Upwey and Broadwey 5 - 2 Okeford United

Upwey and Broadwey claimed all 3 points against an Okeford side who were without 5 regulars at Redlands.  The first half saw seven goals scored, with five going to the home team.

The Butterboys were quickly two goals behind following a driven shot from inside the area, and a penalty.  Okeford responded with a Marc Doble goal.  A corner was only cleared to just inside the area, where Doble controlled and struck the ball home.

Okeford lose in Semi Final

Okeford narrowly missed out on back-to-back trips to the Senior Trophy Final, falling to Sturminster Newton United after extra time.

It was the home side who had the better of the first half, but they were only able to create one clear cut chance.  Mike Budd latched onto a ball threaded through the defence, but Richie Young in the Okeford goal pulled off an excellent save to keep the scores level at the half.

Okeford Hit Seven at Chickerell

Okeford head into their Senior Trophy Semi-Final in good form, following a 7-goal demolition of Chickerell United Reserves.

The visitors dominated the game from start to finish, with Chickerell only testing the opposition keeper on one occasion.  Heading up the considerable slope in the first half, the Butterboys were ahead on 10 minutes.  Reece Foster in his second game for the club beating the keeper with a fine effort from the edge of the area.
