AFC Cobham 2 - 1 Okeford United Reserves

This was a much-improved performance from the Reserves following the poor result the previous week.

On a pitch that could only be described as poor, the Reserves started well against the current league leaders, with seven different faces from the previous week.

It was the home side who took the lead on 30 minutes when a loose ball was pounced upon in midfield, and the home striker was put through to slot the ball past the keeper.  A second goal followed shortly after, which was strongly disputed by the visitors who felt that a clear push had been missed by the referee.

A minute later Okeford were back in the game.  A corner from the right was met by the head of Stuart Antell.  Okeford now began to press forward, and two minutes later a free kick from Tony Wooldridge was tipped on to the upright by the keeper, with the follow up being put wide.

The second half saw the Reserves on top.  The best chance fell to Joe Brickwood, who was put through only to see his shot put round the post by the finger tips of the keeper.

Richard Young in the visitors’ goal pulled off a superb save to stop the home side increasing their lead and showed that he is knocking on the door for the first team place.

This match could prove to be a turning point for the reserves season.
