Okeford Take All Three Points Against Sturminster Marshall

Okeford United remained unbeaten this season, picking up their first win with a narrow 2-1 victory over Sturminster Marshall.

The Butterboys started brightly and were a goal up after just 10 minutes after a super strike.  The visitors’ left back got caught under a long diagonal ball from Chris Cole from just inside his own half, and the ball sat perfectly from Adam Stockton, who volleyed into the top corner from the edge of the area to record his first goal for the club.

This would be the only goal of the first half, with neither team managing to create any further clear-cut chances.

Sturminster Marshall came out strongly in the second half and dominated much of the possession.  They got the goal they deserved with 20 minutes left in the game.

However, it wasn’t long until the home side was back in front.  Following a goal line clearance from Cole, the ball fell to Rocky Frampton, who in turn fed Olly Chaffey on halfway.  Chaffey outran the visitors’ defenders and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Okeford managed to hold on to the narrow advantage and achieve their first win of the season.  They will now make the short trip to Stourpaine on Saturday 29th September.
